The hotel
Banjul is small, flat and best seen on foot. Staying at Gamba Express puts you inside that — the market, the riverfront, the government quarter and the old colonial streets are all within a short walk of the lobby. You come back at the end of the day to a rooftop pool, a quiet room and a kitchen that cooks properly.
The hotel is built for two kinds of guests: people here on business who need reliable wifi, a desk and a meeting room that works, and travellers who want a comfortable base for a few days of seeing the country. Both get the same service.
Rooms & suites
Every room has air conditioning, blackout curtains, a safe, a minibar and wifi that holds up for a video call. Rates are per night and shown at the time of booking.
A calm room facing the water, with a deep window seat, blackout drapes and a desk wide enough to actually work at.
Two full beds, a walk-in shower and a small sitting corner. Built for colleagues travelling together or friends on a long weekend.
A separate living room, a dining table for four, and a corner terrace that catches the evening light over the city.
Our largest rooms, on the upper floors, with a private lounge, a second bathroom and space to host a small meeting before dinner.
Two connected bedrooms, a kitchenette and a washing machine. The practical choice for families staying a week or more.

Dining
Downstairs, the all-day restaurant handles breakfast, long lunches and anything you want brought to your room at two in the morning. Upstairs, the dining room opens in the evening with a shorter, more considered menu — Gambian classics cooked properly, alongside European plates and a wine list built around what actually arrives in the country.
Both rooms take walk-ins, but the upstairs dining room fills on weekends. Book a table when you book your room and it's handled.
In the hotel
The things guests actually use, and how they work.
Open from early morning until late. Sun loungers, shade sails, towels brought to you, and a bar that starts pouring at noon. The best view of the city at sunset is up here.
A ground-floor room for long breakfasts and a lighter all-day menu, and an upstairs dining room where the kitchen cooks Gambian classics alongside European plates. Room service runs around the clock.
Massage, facials and body treatments by appointment, a steam room, and a gym with free weights and cardio machines that opens early for guests who train before meetings.
Function rooms for board meetings, workshops and receptions, with projector, sound and catering handled in-house. Tell us the shape of the day and we'll set the room to it.
A driver can meet you at Banjul International and bring you straight in. Arrange it when you book, or ask the front desk the day before you fly.
The desk arranges guides, river trips, market visits and restaurant tables elsewhere in the city. Ask on arrival and we'll build the day around what you want to see.
Location
Gamba Express is at [hotel street address], in central Banjul — close enough to the riverfront that you can walk down in the evening, and far enough from the main road that the rooms stay quiet at night.
Banjul itself is on an island at the mouth of the Gambia River. It's compact: most of the city's landmarks are within a fifteen-minute walk, and the resort strip at Kololi is a short drive south when you want the beach.
Distances are approximate. The front desk will call you a taxi or arrange a car and driver for the day.
